Review Summary:

This attractive built-in washing machine from Smeg has proved very popular with buyers who say it is quiet, efficient and has a great range of programmes. It's not the cheapest on the market but if you're looking to add a little extra style to your kitchen this could be just the ticket.

When most people think of Smeg they think of their iconic Fridges which cost an arm and a leg. They do however now make a wide range of kitchen appliances including dishwashers, ovens, hobs, cookers and freezers. Although definitely a premium brand, many of the models in their range are quite affordable and deliver great results so are well worth considering.

This Smeg Cucina washing machine is an integrated appliance, meaning it is designed to blend seamlessly into your kitchen with a fascia panel attached to the front. A handy feature of this model is that the door can be attached on either side giving you greater versatility in positioning it. The dimensions are (H)82.0 x (W)59.6 x (D)58.0 cm.

The Cucina WMI12C7 has a 7kg drum which is perfect for the average size family and has a variable spin speed up to 1200 rpm. It has 15 programmes including easy iron, delicates , woollen, handwash, intensive, super rinse, pre wash, automatic half load, darks wash and finally a 15 minute quick wash perfect for emergency garments and lightly soiled clothes. A nice value-added feature is a self-cleaning detergent drawer which is a bonus as these drawers often get gunky and need regular cleaning which can be a tedious job.

This appliance will cost approximately £40.42 a year to run which is pretty reasonable compared to similar models. It uses 1.19 kWh or electricity and 47 litres of water per cycle which amounts to 236.8 kWh and 10340 litres of water per year.

This model runs at 56dB on a wash cycle and 70 dB on spin and customers have commented on how quiet it is. This washer is cold fill only meaning that only the amount of water necessary is heated saving on your fuel bill. It has been awarded A+ energy efficiency rating and is graded A for washing performance and B for spin.

  1. Almost exactly 3 years and one month after we purchased this machine it has broken down. £300 for an engineer to replace the door lock and circuit board.
Agree with the previous comments – won’t buy a SMEG again.

  2. We have had our machine for about 4yrs it works great iand does everything we wanted , this is why we paid more for a good machine . the error 13 fault showed on the led , we contacted the repair insurance company they replaced the door loch assy , the light stayed on, we were then told the machine was beyond economical repair ???? 4 years old £450 machine RIDICULOUS surely this does not make sense ! obviously will not buy SMEG again , Which is a shame as loved the appliance.

  3. Only had this machine 3 years and has broken down. Spoken to local Washing Machine engineer and said very expensive to repair. Its cheaper to buy a new one – RIDICULOUS!!
