Review Summary:

The Bosch Serie 4 WAT28370GB is a great washer for buyers that set reliability and cleaning performance as their top priorities. It offers high quality cleaning results, and you get some nice washing options with special programmes for things like allergies, shirts, sportswear and wool. At this price, there are not many 9kg washing machines that score this well across the board.

With the Bosch WAB24161GB, you have a 6kg washing machine that provides good cleaning results. Compared to many of the more expensive Bosch washing machines, this one could be better, but this model comes at a low price and it still delivers the build quality that you expect from this brand. In addition to that, this model gets good marks for efficiency, using an estimated 153 kilowatt hours of electricity per year.

If your top concern is the cleaning performance, then the WAB24161GB from Bosch should be a satisfying purchase. It uses Bosch’s ActiveWater technology to manage the amount of water used per load, and it has the 3D AquaSpa system to ensure that all of the laundry gets thoroughly saturated during the wash cycle.

This model is on the lower end of Bosch’s range, so it does not come with all of the options that you would get if you were to move up the range. This washer comes with fifteen programmes for washing laundry, but many of these are just different options for washing cottons. In total, it is five different options for washing cottons, and you have two temperature settings for washing synthetics. Beyond the options for washing cottons and synthetics, you have special programmes for wool, anti-allergy, delicates and mixed load. You also have a spin & drain programme and a rinse only.

Since this is one of the budget models from Bosch, the WAB24161GB does not come with a wide range of features to manage the different programmes. It has the SpeedPerfect feature for cutting the programme times by up to 40% and you can also add a pre-wash to some of the cycles. It also has a delay start timer, and you can adjust the spin speed on some of the programmes.

While this washing machine does do well for cleaning performance, there are a few ways that it could be better. The spin speed maxes out at 1200 rpm, and it is a bit of an underperformer when it comes to removing moisture from the laundry. It can also get kind of noisy during the spin cycle, so that might be an irritation for some users. As a further point, many of the programmes take a long time to run and you do not have a quick wash option.

As a plus, this model is very easy to operate. Most users will not even need to refer to the instructions to figure this one out. It has all of the different programmes arranged around a dial for easy selection and you have buttons for things like adding a pre-wash, selecting the SpeedPerfect option and for changing the spin speed. It also has a simple display with a countdown timer, and that is a nice convenience feature.
